OUR NEW EXTENSION

When we moved to  Bromley we loved our new house but, with a new baby, decided we needed more space. I designed a new dining room that would have lots of light and give nice views out over the garden. I put in sliding doors and the floor at the same level of the decking, so that it would open out on to the garden. 

Claire wanted somewhere to put her thousands of books, so I designed floor to ceiling and wall to wall shelves that were double depth, so that they would all fit in, with room to spare. She spent two days putting them all on the shelves and after arranging them according to author, genre, size etc etc she decided that colour coding looked best. We can never find a book, but it looks very pleasing.

I also designed a new bathroom. The tiling is a bit like graph paper, so it feels like having a bath in some maths home-work. The black wall is done with magnetic wall paint, so that we can hang up all the post-cards we send to each other.
